Our Programs
One Village provides a number of services and programs to help villages become self-sufficient. Below is a brief outline of the process.
- A village school is identified and we meet with parents, teachers, and local leaders to introduce ourselves and outline the program.
- We develop a contract between parents, other adults, One Village and K-MET establishing goals, expectations, and time-lines.
- Begin the cost-shared feeding program for children pre-k through 4th grade, while parents and older students develop a plan for self-sustainability.
- Our reproductive health team works with girls to educate them about their bodies and distribute sanitary towels so they can stay in school.
- After financial training by K-MET, we award micro-finance loans up to $200 per business (up to $2000/yr) for local businesses.
- K-MET makes monthly visits to check on program progress, student health, and loan repayment. K-MET sends reports back to One Village and its donars.

- Parents begin to transition away from cost-sharing with One Village and assume 60% financial responsibility for the feeding program.
- We continue work to strengthen local businesses and grow the village economy through our micro-finance program.
- Our reproductive health team continues to work with the girls and extends the program to mothers and women within the community.
- K-MET continues their monthly visits to discuss challenges, what works, what doesn’t, and to ready the school for graduation.
- Executive Directors visit schools for graduation. The best performing school chooses the next school in the village to join us.
- The graduating school partners with One Village and K-MET to become teachers and help the new school through the program.
